Archived operational intelligence briefing
The military situation in Ukraine remains critical, with Russian forces maintaining offensive momentum, particularly in the Donetsk region. Significant advances are reported near Kurakhove, Pokrovsk, and Toretsk (Dzerzhinsk).
In Kurakhove Russian forces have captured three factories and the industrial zone, solidifying their control. They are also advancing west of Uspenovka and expanding their control zone near Krasne (Sontsovka) and Novovasylivka. The strategic goal appears to be cutting off the highway to Pokrovsk and encircling the city.
In the Vremivka direction, they have captured Novyi Komar and Novopustynka, liberated around 10 sq km along the Huliaipole - Velyka Novosilka road, and dislodged Ukrainian forces from Rozdolne.
Russian forces report taking most of Novovasylivka in the Mezheve (Krasnoarmiisk, left flank) direction, with ongoing cleanup operations in the western part of the village. They are applying pressure south of Uspenovka and advancing in the fields along the ravines and forest belts.
After securing the western part of Novoelizavetovka, Russian assault units are attacking Nadezhdinka and to the south, across the dam, towards Sribne and Novoandreevka. Simultaneously, Russian assault units are engaged in battles to capture Yaseneve (Yasenovoe). Southeast of this area, Russian forces have entered Slavyanka and Petropavlovka, securing their positions and continuing to advance. Further south, battles are ongoing for a Ukrainian fortified area. North of Shevchenko, Russian forces have captured some Ukrainian positions on the eastern side.
Heavy fighting continues in the Pokrovsk direction, with Russian forces attempting to encircle the city rather than engage in direct assaults. The spokesman for the operational command "Khortytsia" reported that the Russians are trying to bypass Pokrovsk, as there are no battles within the city. The occupying forces are trying to bypass Pokrovsk and cut off the supply lines of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
In Toretsk (Dzerzhinsk), Russian forces are advancing north of the Central Market and attacking towards the spoil heaps of the No. 10 and Toretsk mines. North of the multi-story buildings, Russian troops have captured a college building.
On the Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk) front, Russian troops are attacking near Novovasylivka, southwest of Pokrovsk. South of the city, Russian forces are leveling the front near Zelene. To the east, there are reports of Russian units advancing near Vozdvyzhenka, with about 4 km remaining to the important logistics junction of the Pokrovsk-Konstantinovka highway.
Northwest of Kurakhove, Russian forces are attacking near Petropavlovka. South of the city, Russian troops are moving west from Uspenovka. Ukrainian units are gradually being pushed out of the Kurakhove industrial zone, with Russian units approaching a pipe factory.
Drone warfare remains a critical component, with extensive use by both sides. Ukrainian drone operators report successful targeting of Russian soldiers and equipment. Ukrainian air defense forces report they are actively engaging drones in the capital region and multiple other regions. Vinnytsia oblast is under threat of enemy drones from Zhytomyr Oblast. Over Bryansk Oblast, a drone of the airplane type was detected and destroyed by air defense forces. Russia is confirmed to be integrating AI into Shahed drones to enhance their target recognition capabilities, even when offline.
The Ukrainian General Staff reports that Ukrainian defense forces struck another oil depot of the Russian occupiers, "Yartsevskaya" in the Smolensk region. Powerful explosions and a fire were recorded at the facility, with heavy smoke observed. All industrial enterprises in Transnistria have reportedly ceased operations due to a lack of energy resources following the cessation of Russian gas supplies.
Russian forces captured an "International MaxxPro" and a "Kozak" armored vehicle from Ukrainian forces on the Krasnoarmeysk direction. The vehicles were captured with minimal damage and full ammunition.
One Russian missile carrier is present in the Black Sea, but without Kalibr missiles. No enemy ships are observed in the Azov Sea.
Kazakhstan's President Tokayev stated that Russia is militarily invincible and that Ukraine is trying to "survive the war, at least not lose it" with the help of Western allies. He also said that Kazakhstan supports the start of negotiations on the situation in Ukraine, but is not imposing itself as a mediator.
The updated messages indicate that the situation is escalating in the Bohodukhiv and Zolochiv districts of the Kharkiv region. Russian forces are utilizing aviation and "Geran" drones to attack these areas. There are reports of six explosions in Bohodukhiv and 11 in Zolochiv, indicating heavy shelling. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukrainian forces successfully shot down six enemy drones overnight. However, Russian forces attacked the Nikopol region multiple times using artillery, "Grad" multiple rocket launchers, and kamikaze drones. There were no casualties reported in these attacks.
The Ukrainian Air Force reports activity of enemy tactical aviation in the north-eastern direction and the threat of using aviation weapons for front-line regions. The launch of guided aerial bombs by enemy tactical aviation on Sumy region is reported.
A massive drone attack targeted Ukraine overnight, with 93 drones launched by Russia. Ukrainian air defenses reportedly shot down 60 drones, while 26 were "locationally lost" due to active countermeasures.
As a result of the massive drone attack on Ukraine, several private enterprises and apartment buildings in Donetsk and Chernihiv regions were hit. In the Kyiv region, several private houses and cars were damaged, resulting in one death and several injuries.
A video from the "OTU Kharkiv" Telegram channel titled "Two days with the artillerymen: life at the front" shows journalists spending two days with the soldiers of the 154th Brigade to understand what it is like to be an artilleryman during a major war. The video shows the daily life of the artillerymen, the challenges they face, and the moments when the wait is interrupted by the command to fire.
Another video shows Russian forces attacking the private sector of the city of Sumy with an airstrike. There were no deaths, but there were injuries. In the Sumy community, a private house was damaged due to the fall of the wreckage of a Shahed drone.
The West does not rule out an early collapse of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defense and notes a decline in Ukraine's ability to resist the Russian army, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) reports.
The SVR also reports that a decision has been prepared to reduce the mobilization age to 18 in Ukraine and will be made soon. Eastern European countries are preparing to receive new waves of Ukrainian refugees after the mobilization age is lowered.
